Google Goes Limp-wristed and Caves to Nanny-ism

When I last logged into my Blogger account (Google), I saw this notice:

"European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used and data collected on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent.

As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies, and other data collected by Google.

You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays."

Dumbest thing I've read all week.  My blog is not hosted in any european nation; it's hosted in the United States of America.  I don't give a damn what the euro-idiots have decided on; it's not applicable to me, unless I decide to view a european website.

Here's a news flash:  If I choose to view content from europe, I can expect the website to be following european law, not U.S. law. The same should hold true for U.S. hosted websites, but there's no accounting for the continued stupidity of Google.
(Yes, I'm aware that I did not capitalize "europe.")
